Corporation Tax Returns
Corporation Tax starts with the accounts, but it does not end there. Accounting profit and taxable profit are different measures because the tax rules treat some expenditure, assets and losses differently.
We prepare the Company Tax Return and supporting tax computation, considering the allowances, reliefs and treatment of losses relevant to the company. We explain how the liability has been reached and when it must be paid, so you understand the charge as well as the deadline. The aim is not a clever-looking figure, but a correct and defensible position. If the figures suggest action before the next year end, we raise it while there is still time to act.
Self-Assessment Tax Returns
The form itself is rarely the difficult part of Self Assessment. Self-employment, dividends, property, employment, capital gains and other income can all feed into the same return. The real work lies in bringing them into one complete position.
We establish what must be reported, review the records and apply the expenses, allowances and reliefs relevant to your circumstances. Before filing, we explain what is being declared, how much is due and when it must be paid. Where payments on account apply, we separate the balance for the year just ended from the amounts HMRC is requesting in advance. You understand the return being filed in your name, not merely the number at the bottom of it.
Making Tax Digital for Income Tax Self Assessment
Making Tax Digital changes Income Tax reporting from an annual task into a process that runs throughout the year. Sole traders and landlords within the rules must keep compatible digital records and send quarterly updates, while the complete tax position is still finalised through the annual return. The updates are not four separate tax returns, but the records do need to remain current.
We establish a practical routine for keeping the records and meeting each obligation. The division of responsibility is agreed at the outset: what you provide, what we handle and when the information needs to be ready. This keeps the quarterly updates and the final return connected to the same dependable records, rather than reconstructing the year at the final deadline.
VAT Returns and Advice
A VAT return reflects decisions made throughout the period: which rate applies, when VAT falls due, what can be reclaimed and whether the chosen scheme still suits the business. A small error repeated each quarter can soon become material.
We prepare the return from the accounting records, reconcile the figures and review transactions whose VAT treatment needs closer consideration. Where registration, the choice of scheme or a change in trading raises a question, we advise in the context of how the business operates and gets paid. No VAT scheme is universally best. The aim is the right treatment for the business, supported by records that show how the return was reached.
